A book is a folder.
Every chapter is a Markdown file. The app is a friendly editor on top of them, and the files stay the source of truth: open them in any text editor, back them up anywhere, keep them forever.

Does Scribe have an AI writing assistant?
Not on author plans at launch. Scribe is a writing and formatting app; your editor’s changes arrive as tracked changes you accept or reject.
Can I bring a book I already started?
Yes. Open the folder and Scribe works out which files are chapters, which is the journal and which pages are front matter, then saves that so you can adjust it.
Do I upload to Amazon from the app?
No. Scribe makes the files; you upload them to Kindle Direct Publishing yourself.
What happens if I stop paying for Pro?
Your books and files stay on your computer. Pro features (every theme, hardcover, the cover designer) are available while you subscribe.
